Oh yeah...did I mention just what a bunch of pricks I work with? One of them (who is ordinarily a pretty nice guy, considering we work at a trucking terminal) had the gall to say that we should just drop an A-bomb on NO to save ourselves the expense of rebuilding a city that was stupidly built below sea level anyway. >.< Sad thing is, some of the others (namely drivers) agreed with him. Here's where the urge to beat them over the heads with a table leg comes in.

And then insisting that rescue helicopters were shot at more than once. He got sorta mad at me when I asked how he knew that the people waiting to be rescued weren't shot at first. if you've got the National Guard drawing weapons on people waiting to be bussed out at a convention center, then it wouldn't be so far fetched to think that people stranded on rooftops got shot at first.

I watched some CNN for the first time today....I had to stop. Within 15 minutes I was starting to feel kinda weepy. Yeah, I'm a wimp, but I also care about other human beings. I may not have a high tolerance for stupidity, but I still care. And even though my family and I have been pretty strapped for cash lately, I'm seriously considering donating money....even if it's only $10. To either the Red Cross, or the emergency fund my company set up for the employees of our NO terminal. We got a little newsletter at work today, and it said they've made contact with 35 of 50 of our NO employees, and that the company is continuing to pay them their normal weekly wages. Every dollar donated to the emergency fund by employees with be matched by the company, and will go directly to those employees. Which may not be much in the long run, but at least it's something.

I'm tempted to donate to the company fund, but I want to donate to where the money would do the most good. That's my big decision of the week.

What other people had to say:

And of course, Foamy the Squirell:

and I've even come out of lurking mode for all this.
