just rambling
Oct. 22nd, 2004 01:34 pmI sent out a forward to a few of the people in my hotmail address book. I've heard back from one of them. Erin....she's just so goofy. If anything, that's the one thing about her that hasn't changed a bit since high school. Her response was very enthusiastic, and gave me mental images of her actually jumping up and down and bouncing off the walls in pure glee. I couldn't help but sit there and laugh.
I miss my Erin. :(
We used to be so close. The great thing, as she pointed out in another email, is that we seem to be able to pick up right where we left off. I suspect that if she comes up from Tennesse for a visit, it'll be the same thing. Almost like we've never been apart. Don't get me wrong. I don't begrudge her her married life down there. I'm extremely happy for her. (and look forward to the day when she has children I can torment. >:) hey, she'd do the same thing to any children I might have. :-P)
I just miss her. Regardless of how little we might get to talk, I feel she's still closer to me than Becky and Jen have ever been, and possibly will ever be. Even if Erin hasn't shared some of the experiences that they have. She hasn't seen my at my self-destructive, on the verge of a complete nervous breakdown....she doesn't have to. She already knows I'm a spaz. :-P
I remember....
...being the first one to make her cry with a letter I wrote when she went off to college in Milwaukee.
....what she looked like with braces.
....the day she found a dead mouse (skeletonized) under her bed.
....her carrying her kitten, Loki, through the house to the litter box yelling "piddle in the box! piddle in the box!"
....the laughing fit she had at seeing Billy Crystal's leg hanging off the bed in When Harry Met Sally.
....rewinding the tape so that was playing again when she came back into the room. >:)
....staying up for two days cause we just didn't want to go to sleep.
....and then being forced to watch Groundhog Day on the second day.
....dunking our heads in a bucket of ice cold water just cause it was hot outside.
....and seeing the bubbles created by her screaming into the water. :)
....the Madonna dress she had for our junior prom. (whatever happened to that thing)
....the monstrosity I had for a prom dress that same year.
....the baby elephant walk.
....spitting watermelon seeds at the kitchen window, just to see how far we could spit.
....all the watermelon seeds on the floor from my pitiful attempts.
....her wearing her prom "dates" top hat during our senior year.
....her first boyfriend in high school. (remember Brian???)
....our fascination with Jean-Claude Van Damme....or, more correctly, his butt cheeks. lol!
....the slumber party we had with Amanda.
....making up 800 numbers and dialing them.
and, an ode to what she's got on her blog...
....Joe's touch a dish, lose a hand sign from when he left the dirty dishes sit there. :-P
Yeah, I love my friends (all of them)...but I don't think anyone could ever replace Erin. And I look forward to the next time we get together...cause I think we could probably cause a hell of a lot of mischief! :-)
